Pelagic Vortex

This sculpture embodies the mesmerizing bait ball phenomenon, where thousands of small fish in the open ocean instinctively merge into a tight, spherical formation, transforming individual vulnerability into collective protection and survival through unity. Abstractly representing many individual fish dissolving into one dynamic piece evokes fluid motion and solidarity in the vast sea. Fabricated from durable stainless steel and also features integrated solar powered LED lighting for eco conscious illumination that highlights its fluid motion at night.

This stainless steel mackerel bait ball sculpture is presented as a maquette and conceptual proposal, available for full scale commissioning. Designed for public plazas, coastal spaces, or private collections, the piece features integrated solar LEDs that create a soft blue glow from the core at night, celebrating ocean resilience and collective survival.
